I was born in 1956 and went to school in Bridgnorth having grown up in the village of Quatt. I have three brothers; two older and one younger. The two older ones both still live locally as does my only sister. My younger brother now lives in the USA. (Los Angeles)

I have been married to Eileen for many years and in fact celebrate our 30th anniversary in September 2009. We have two adult children Victoria and Peter who both now live and work in London. Victoria at the National Portrait Gallery and Peter is with KPMG.

My working career began in 1973 when I joined NatWest Bank and I remained with the company for over 31 years working in a variety of branches including an eleven year spell in London. I returned to the Midlands in 1985 initially working at the Worcester Cross branch, before moving on to be an underwriter for a short time which was followed by my first managerial position.

For around the last 10 years of my career with NatWest I was a relationship manager looking after a portfolio of small businesses; generally with a turnover of up to c£1.5m. Having spent a few years in Bromsgrove, then Worcester and finally Dudley I decided that the time was right for me to have a slight change of career.

And so in 2005 I began SLJ Commercial Finance. 

Outside of work I am a keen amateur cook and enjoy the odd bottle of wine. I am also a Christian and still attend St Andrew's Church in my home village of Quatt.
